Provincetown in November 2026

November is one of the nicest times to see Provincetown at a slower pace. You can still build a weekend around good food, art and long walks, while Food & Wine, New England Leather Weekend and Thanksgiving give the month a few very lively anchors.

The tradeoff is simple: fewer businesses keep summer hours, the ferry season winds down, and the sun sets early. If you plan around those things, November can feel less like an off-season and more like having room to enjoy the town.

A different side of Provincetown

Is November a good time to visit Provincetown?

Yes, if you like a quieter trip with good food, art, coastal walks and a little more breathing room. November is much calmer than summer, but it is not empty. Event weekends bring people back into town, and Thanksgiving begins the holiday season with two of Provincetown’s best-loved lighting traditions.

We would choose November for a trip where the day does not need to be packed. Have one dinner you are excited about, one outing you really want to do, and enough flexibility to move a beach walk or dune tour to the better-weather afternoon.

The first half of the month gives you the last stretch of late-fall ferry service and the final days of Art’s Dune Tours. The second half leans into Thanksgiving, local shopping and holiday lights. Midweek is the quietest; Food & Wine, New England Leather Weekend and Thanksgiving are the weekends with the clearest built-in energy.

If this is your first trip, our broader Provincetown guide covers the places we return to throughout the year. This page is about the November version of town: what is confirmed, what changes seasonally, and what we would plan around.

Six November guides for the details that matter

Think of this page as the month-at-a-glance guide. If one part of the trip needs more planning, we have built separate guides around the questions people usually have next: three major November event weekends, what is actually open, how to get here once the ferry season changes, and what a three-day trip can realistically look like.

You do not need to read all six. Start with the one that matches the trip you are considering, then come back here for the broader November picture.

Calendar checked against the Provincetown Business Guild, Provincetown Office of Tourism and event organizers on September 19, 2026. Exact programs can still change.

A note on Food & Wine dates: earlier destination calendars differed about the opening date. The organizer’s current program now lists November 5–8, including Thursday’s dinner at Ciro & Sal’s. Use the festival’s daily pages for the latest details; we have not found a Wednesday event in its current program.

November 5–8

Provincetown Food & Wine Festival 2026

The organizer’s 2026 program runs November 5–8. It now includes a Thursday wine-pairing dinner at Ciro & Sal’s, Friday’s Gallery Sip & Stroll and Saturday’s Grand Tasting at Town Hall. Confirm Thursday’s time and reservations before planning your arrival around dinner.

How we would plan the weekend

Pick the ticketed event you care about most first, then make dinner reservations around it. The festival is a good reason to come to Provincetown, but you do not need to turn every meal into scheduled programming. Leave yourself time for a gallery, a walk and one dinner with nowhere else to be afterward.

Friday’s Gallery Sip & Stroll is currently listed as free with registration. Saturday’s Grand Tasting is scheduled for November 7 from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Provincetown Town Hall; the organizer currently lists tickets at $90 and describes more than 300 wines to taste.

Festival details checked September 28, 2026; ticket inventory and programming can change. Use the festival’s official site for live registration and the complete schedule.

If you are comparing dates for a stay, check November 5–8 on Airbnb. That link is a planning shortcut, not a promise that the dates are still open.

November 20–22

New England Leather Weekend

New England Leather Weekend returns to Provincetown November 20–22. The organization describes 2026 as its 13th year and its third fully gender-inclusive title contest, with all genders welcome.

One important planning point: the organizer’s schedule page currently says the 2026 schedule is coming soon. The older schedule visible below that notice is not the 2026 program, so we are deliberately not copying those times, venues or parties into this guide.

Our New England Leather Weekend 2026 guide pulls together the confirmed contest time and venue, the difference from Mates, travel after ferry season, parking, official lodging partners and what else is open that weekend. For the live program, use New England Leather’s official schedule page once the full 2026 schedule is released. If you are checking lodging at the same time, November 19–22 gives you a Thursday arrival before the weekend, subject to Airbnb availability.

Thanksgiving week · November 25–29

Thanksgiving in Provincetown

Thanksgiving weekend in Provincetown is bigger than one meal. The Pilgrim Monument lights on Wednesday, Thanksgiving is Thursday, Pink Friday follows, and Saturday brings both the Lobster Pot Tree lighting and the Provincetown Craft Show.

  1. Lighting on the Hill

The Office of Tourism currently lists the Pilgrim Monument celebration from 3:00–5:15 p.m. at 1 High Pole Hill Road. It is a free community event and one of the clearest signals that the holiday season has started.

  2. Thanksgiving Day

Make the meal the one thing you do not leave to chance. Some businesses close, and not every year-round restaurant serves Thanksgiving dinner. If a restaurant has not published a 2026 Thanksgiving menu yet, we would not count it as confirmed. Ptown Perch has a full kitchen if you would rather plan a meal at home.

  3. Pink Friday

The Business Guild lists Pink Friday on November 27, encouraging visitors to shop locally. We would treat it less like a checklist and more like an excuse to wander Commercial Street and the galleries that are open for the weekend.

  4. Lobster Pot Tree lighting

Provincetown’s harbor-front holiday landmark lights up in Lopes Square. The current tourism listing says the community gathers at 5:30 p.m. for carols, cocoa and the countdown. The event is free.

  5. Provincetown Craft Show

The Tourism calendar lists the Craft Show for November 28–29 at Town Hall, with local artisans and holiday gifts. Check the event page for final hours before you go.

The Canteen Holiday Market is right across the street

Ptown Perch is at 220 Commercial Street. The Canteen is at 225, directly across the street. Both the Business Guild and Office of Tourism currently list the 2026 Holiday Market from November 20 through December 21.

Tourism describes the market as weekend-focused, with local vendors plus The Canteen’s seasonal food and drink setup. That means we would check The Canteen’s current market information for the exact vendor days during your stay rather than assuming every day in the date range is a full market day.

Planning Thanksgiving dinner? We are intentionally not repeating old menus or prices. As restaurants publish 2026 Thanksgiving service, book directly with the restaurant. Fanizzi’s currently says it is closed on Thanksgiving, so it belongs on another day of the trip.

For the full holiday-weekend plan, our Thanksgiving in Provincetown 2026 guide brings the lightings, Pink Friday, Craft Show, dining status and transportation details together without relying on old holiday menus.

To cover the Monument lighting through Sunday, check November 25–29 on Airbnb. For a Thursday-to-Sunday trip, check November 26–29. Airbnb is the source for live availability and the current total price.

What’s open

Restaurants in Provincetown in November

You can absolutely eat well in November. The difference from summer is that we would check the restaurant’s own site before building a day around it. “Year-round” does not necessarily mean every meal service, every weekday or every holiday.

The Canteen

225 Commercial Street · across from Perch

The Canteen lists year-round service. It is the easiest nearby place to keep in mind, and the holiday market starts later in November.

Fanizzi’s

539 Commercial Street · East End

Fanizzi’s lists year-round lunch and dinner service. Its current site specifically says it is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Mac’s Fish House

85 Shank Painter Road

Mac’s lists year-round restaurant service, with its seafood market next door if you would rather bring something back to the apartment.

Those are confirmed starting points, not a complete November restaurant directory. Our What’s Open in Provincetown in November guide goes further into restaurants, food markets, museums, galleries, theater, shopping and seasonal activities. For more places we personally like, see our Ptown guide, then check the business’s current hours for your dates.

Beyond the calendar

Things to do in Provincetown in November

A November trip works best when you mix one outdoor plan with something indoors. That way the forecast can change without ruining the day.

Spend an hour at PAAM

Provincetown Art Association and Museum is a dependable indoor stop. PAAM currently lists the Fred Garbers exhibition through November 29, 2026. Check current hours and holiday closures before walking over.

Visit the library and the Rose Dorothea

The Provincetown Public Library is open year-round and houses a half-scale model of the schooner Rose Dorothea upstairs. It is one of those wonderfully specific Provincetown things that is worth seeing even if the weather is good.

Walk Beech Forest

The Beech Forest trail gives you woods and ponds instead of open shoreline. It is an easy plan to pair with lunch, though wet leaves and colder weather can change trail conditions. Check National Seashore conditions before setting out.

Choose Herring Cove for sunset

Herring Cove is still one of our favorite places for late-day light. In November, think of it as a bundled-up walk or scenic stop, not a summer beach day. Lifeguards and many facilities are seasonal.

Go to Race Point for the big view

Race Point gives you the Atlantic-facing version of Provincetown. The National Seashore is open year-round, but the Province Lands Visitor Center is seasonally closed by November and some facilities are not operating. Keep the outing simple and daylight-conscious.

Low tide and evening light over Provincetown Harbor
November is a good month to let the water be part of the plan instead of something you rush past.

A couple of summer staples are not November plans. Dolphin Fleet lists its whale-watch season through October, and the Province Lands Visitor Center closes seasonally in the fall. We would rather tell you what is actually available than pad the itinerary with things that have already ended.

Pack for the coast

November weather and daylight in Provincetown

Expect daytime highs around 52°F and overnight lows around 40°F on average. Wind and rain can make it feel colder, and daylight gets short quickly: sunset is roughly 4:34 p.m. at the start of November and about 4:10 p.m. by the end of the month.

About 52°FHistorical average daytime high
Around 40°FHistorical average overnight low
Early sunsetsPlan exposed walks before late afternoon

Daylight saving time ends on November 1 in 2026, so the early sunset arrives immediately. We would put Herring Cove, Race Point, the dunes or Beech Forest in the first half of the day, then save galleries, the library, a long meal or time at the apartment for later.

Pack a sweater or fleece, a warm outer layer that handles wind and rain, comfortable shoes with some traction, plus a hat and light gloves. The forecast for your actual dates matters more than the averages, but layers will rarely be wasted here.

Climate planning uses historical Provincetown averages from Time and Date; daylight timing uses its November 2026 sun table. These are planning references, not a forecast.

The practical part

Getting to Provincetown in November, and parking once you’re here

November is where transportation starts to matter more. If you are not driving, choose the dates only after you have checked both the trip to Provincetown and the trip home. Our November transportation guide lays out the ferry cutoff, Cape Air winter schedule, bus service, beach-shuttle season and parking changes by date.

Boston fast ferry: weekends through November 15

Bay State Cruise Company currently lists late-fall fast-ferry service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through November 15, 2026. The published schedule does not include Thursday or Monday sailings.

DirectionPublished late-fall serviceCurrent time
Boston → ProvincetownFriday1:00–2:40 p.m.
Boston → ProvincetownSaturday & Sunday8:30–10:10 a.m.
Provincetown → BostonFriday, Saturday & Sunday3:00–4:40 p.m.

Weather can affect ferry service. Recheck the operator before traveling, and do not plan Thanksgiving around a ferry: the published late-fall season ends November 15.

Cape Air winter flights begin November 4

Provincetown Tourism currently lists Cape Air’s winter service from November 4, 2026 through May 12, 2027. The published pattern is Boston to Provincetown at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and Provincetown to Boston at 7:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday plus 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

That can work nicely for a Thursday-to-Sunday stay. One Thanksgiving-specific caution: the Wednesday, November 25 arrival is scheduled too late for the Pilgrim Monument celebration, which ends at 5:15 p.m. If the lighting matters to you, arrive earlier by another route.

Check the latest flight schedule on Provincetown Tourism’s air-travel page and book through Cape Air. Holiday operation, weather and luggage rules can affect a specific trip.

Bus and Outer Cape travel

Peter Pan’s Provincetown stop is on Ryder Street, close to MacMillan Pier. Its schedules are date-specific, so search the exact outward and return dates together before booking your stay.

For regional travel, the Cape Cod RTA FLEX route serves the Outer Cape. Check the current timetable for your date rather than assuming summer beach-shuttle service continues into November.

Parking gets easier after November 2

Ptown Perch has no dedicated parking. We usually recommend Grace Hall municipal lot, about 0.1 mile or roughly a three-minute walk from the apartment. During the Town’s paid season, it is open 24 hours and charges the published municipal rate.

The Town’s 2026 paid-parking season runs through November 2, so November 1–2 are still paid-season dates. Beginning November 3, Grace Hall is outside the paid season. The seasonal prohibition on parking along Commercial Street between Pearl and Central Streets ends October 31, so from November 1 you can follow the posted signs for available street parking. Other restrictions still apply.

The Town parking page is the place to check for current notices and restrictions.

Three nights, without overplanning

How we’d spend a November long weekend

This is intentionally loose. Move the outdoor part to the better-weather day, and let a festival ticket, dinner reservation or lighting event be the only immovable piece when you can.

If you want a fuller day-by-day version, our 3-day Provincetown November itinerary adds rainy-day swaps, a car-free version and specific changes for Food & Wine, Leather Weekend and Thanksgiving.

  1. Thursday: arrive, unpack and stay close

Take a short walk on Commercial Street, pick up breakfast provisions and make the first dinner easy. If you arrive after dark, save the beach or dunes for tomorrow.

  2. Friday: town, art and one plan you care about

Start slowly, walk east toward PAAM or the library, then come back to the apartment before dinner. During Food & Wine weekend, this is where we would put the Gallery Sip & Stroll or another ticketed event.

  3. Saturday: get outside before the light goes

Choose Herring Cove, Race Point, Beech Forest or an early-November dune tour. Leave the afternoon open for shops or a long lunch. On Thanksgiving weekend, return to the center in time for the Lobster Pot Tree lighting.

  4. Sunday: breakfast and one last look at the water

Keep the final morning simple. Check your departure time first, then decide whether you have room for breakfast, Pie Fest, a gallery or one more harbor walk before leaving town.

If you have work to do, November is also a comfortable month for a quieter midweek visit. Ptown Perch has fast Wi-Fi and a standing desk, so you can work for part of the day without giving up a walk or dinner afterward.

A home base on Commercial Street

Staying at Ptown Perch in November

After a windy beach walk or a late dinner, having an actual living room to come back to matters a little more in November. Ptown Perch is our one-bedroom apartment at 220 Commercial Street, Unit 3, directly across from The Canteen and close enough to the center that most everyday plans start on foot.

Ptown Perch living room with a queen sleeper sofa, curved ceiling and windows overlooking Commercial Street
Room to come back, put your feet up and stay a while.
  • A California king in the bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room, for up to four registered guests.
  • A full kitchen and dining table for breakfast, takeout or a holiday meal at home.
  • Heat, fast Wi-Fi, a standing desk and in-unit laundry.
  • Your own private garden out back, with Commercial Street just downstairs.

The apartment is reached by an exterior staircase and is not step-free. Commercial Street can be lively, and street activity may be audible indoors. We provide white-noise machines. Take a look inside and review our practical FAQ before deciding if it fits your trip.

About the hosts and how we checked this guide

We’re Frank Fay and Jared Tiller, the hosts of Ptown Perch at 220 Commercial Street. This guide combines the places in our local Provincetown guide with November-specific information we checked on September 19, 2026.

For dates and events we reviewed the Provincetown Business Guild, Office of Tourism and the organizers themselves. For transportation and parking we used the Town, Bay State Cruise Company, Provincetown Tourism, Cape Air, Peter Pan and Cape Cod RTA. For outdoor access we used the National Park Service. Restaurant claims above are limited to details currently published by the businesses themselves.

Where sources conflict, we say so instead of silently choosing the version we prefer. Seasonal schedules can still change, so the linked organizer or operator should always win for a time-sensitive decision.
