The quickest way to make sense of it
Choose your November transportation by date
Through November 15, the ferry is still in play on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. From November 16 onward, plan around driving, Cape Air or bus. Parking enforcement ends after November 2, while winter Cape Air service begins November 4.
| Dates | What changes | What we would know before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Nov. 1–2 | Still inside the Town's paid-parking season. | Commercial Street's seasonal no-parking rule has ended, but numbered spaces and municipal lots are still under paid enforcement through Nov. 2. |
| Nov. 3 | Parking moves outside the published paid season. | This is also the transition between Cape Air's daily season and the winter schedule that Tourism says begins Nov. 4. |
| Nov. 4–15 | Winter Cape Air is operating, and Bay State still has Fri–Sun ferry service. | This is the most flexible car-free stretch of November. |
| Nov. 16–25 | Regular ferry season is over. | Drive, fly or use bus service. The seasonal Provincetown beach shuttle has already ended. |
| Nov. 26 | Thanksgiving Day. | CCRTA publishes no service. Confirm Cape Air or Peter Pan holiday operation separately if you plan to travel that day. |
| Nov. 27–30 | Late-month winter pattern. | CCRTA lists weekday service level on Nov. 27; ferry remains finished for the season. |
Best before mid-month
Boston to Provincetown ferry service in November 2026
Bay State Cruise Company runs its 2026 late-fall fast ferry through Sunday, November 15. Service is Friday, Saturday and Sunday only.
| Direction | Day | Published time |
|---|---|---|
| Boston → Provincetown | Friday | 1:00 p.m. → 2:40 p.m. |
| Boston → Provincetown | Saturday & Sunday | 8:30 a.m. → 10:10 a.m. |
| Provincetown → Boston | Friday, Saturday & Sunday | 3:00 p.m. → 4:40 p.m. |
Bay State says the late-fall schedule runs October 23 through November 15, and its 2026 page notes that schedules and fares can change. Ferry travel is also weather-sensitive, so check the operator's current schedule before leaving for the terminal.
Food & Wine travelers: Friday's Boston ferry arrives at 2:40 p.m. The 2026 Gallery Sip & Stroll runs 1–4 p.m., so that ferry misses most of it. If the stroll matters, arrive Thursday another way. Our Food & Wine guide maps out the weekend.
Winter service returns November 4
Cape Air flights between Boston and Provincetown
Provincetown Tourism has announced winter Cape Air service from November 4, 2026 through May 12, 2027. Cape Air operates from Terminal C at Boston Logan, and Tourism describes Provincetown Municipal Airport as about 10 minutes from the center of town.
| Direction | Days | Published departure |
|---|---|---|
| Boston → Provincetown | Wednesday–Saturday | 4:30 p.m. |
| Provincetown → Boston | Thursday–Saturday | 7:30 a.m. |
| Provincetown → Boston | Sunday | 1:30 p.m. |
Use Provincetown Tourism's winter-air announcement for the published service pattern, then confirm the exact flight and holiday operation with Cape Air before committing to a stay.
The seasonal town beach shuttle is not a November airport transfer. Arrange a taxi or other ride between Provincetown Municipal Airport and your lodging.
Thanksgiving Eve: the published Wednesday arrival is at 4:30 p.m. The Pilgrim Monument celebration on November 25 runs until 5:15 p.m. That is not a realistic arrival for the full event. If the lighting matters, come earlier by another route.
The year-round ground option
Bus service to and around Provincetown
Peter Pan
Peter Pan serves Provincetown. We would search the exact outward and return dates together because schedules and connections can vary by day and around holidays.
CCRTA FLEX
The Town's transportation page says the FLEX runs Monday through Saturday between Provincetown and Harwich, connecting Outer Cape towns along the way. It also connects with other regional services.
For Thanksgiving, the distinction matters: CCRTA's 2026 holiday schedule says no service on Thursday, November 26. Friday, November 27 is listed at the weekday service level.
One easy mistake to avoid
Do not plan on the Provincetown beach shuttle in November
The Town describes the Provincetown shuttle as seasonal from Memorial Day through Columbus Day. That means a November trip to Herring Cove, Race Point, Beech Forest or the airport needs another transportation plan.
You can still visit those places. Cape Cod National Seashore is open year-round. The difference is that a car, taxi or arranged ride becomes more useful once the seasonal shuttle is gone.
This is one reason we separate “Provincetown without a car” from “every single thing around Provincetown without a car.” The center is extremely walkable. The National Seashore is outside that compact core.
The most flexible late-month option
Driving to Provincetown in November
Driving becomes more attractive as the month goes on because the ferry ends November 15 and the beach shuttle is already seasonal. It also gives you the easiest access to Herring Cove, Race Point and Truro.
From the mainland side of Cape Cod, Route 6 is the main road into Provincetown. PAAM's year-round directions route drivers from Boston via I-93 South, Route 3, the Sagamore Bridge and Route 6 East.
November traffic is generally a different experience from peak summer, but weather can still affect driving. Check the forecast and any Town or state travel advisories before a late-season trip.
The date that matters is November 2
Provincetown parking in November 2026
Paid parking enforcement runs through November 2, 2026. November 1 and 2 are still paid-season days. Beginning November 3, municipal parking is outside the Town's published paid season.
Grace Hall
Ptown Perch has no dedicated parking. Our primary recommendation is Grace Hall Parking Lot at Prince and Bradford Streets. The Town lists 354 spaces and 24-hour access. During the paid season, the published rate is $3 per hour with a $30 maximum per 24 hours.
Once the paid season has ended, we still recommend following all posted signs and any temporary restrictions. A snow emergency or other Town notice can override the normal off-season pattern.
Commercial Street
The Town's traffic regulations prohibit parking on Commercial Street between Pearl Street and Central Street from April 1 through October 31. That seasonal prohibition has ended by November 1. Numbered-space paid enforcement continues through November 2, and other posted restrictions still apply.
In other words: November 1 is not the same as November 10. The Commercial Street seasonal prohibition has ended, but the Town's paid season does not finish until two days later.
Parking rules checked against the Town of Provincetown parking page and Town traffic regulations.
Match the transportation to the reason you are coming
How we would travel for the main November weekends
Food & Wine · Nov. 5–8
Arrive Thursday if Friday matters
The ferry is still running, but Friday's boat arrives too late for most of the Gallery Sip & Stroll. A Thursday drive, bus or Cape Air arrival is the cleaner plan.
Quiet weekend · Nov. 12–15
Last ferry weekend
This is the final published Bay State weekend and the final weekend of Art's Dune Tours season. It is one of the easiest car-free November windows.
Leather Weekend · Nov. 20–22
Plan without the ferry
By November 20, Bay State's late-fall season is over. Drive, fly or use bus service, then rely on central walkability once you are in town.
Thanksgiving · Nov. 25–29
Check holiday operation carefully
No regular ferry. CCRTA has no Thanksgiving Day service. The Wednesday Cape Air arrival is too late for the full Monument lighting, so arrive earlier if that event matters.
Yes, with one caveat
Can you visit Provincetown in November without a car?
Yes, if your trip is centered on town. Commercial Street, Town Hall, MacMillan Pier, the Library, The Commons, restaurants and much of the art scene are concentrated enough to enjoy on foot from central lodging.
The caveat is the National Seashore. Without the seasonal beach shuttle, Herring Cove, Race Point and the Province Lands are not the same simple hop they are in summer. Arrange a taxi or ride, or decide that this trip is about town and save the farther beaches for another visit.
Before choosing a car-free stay, check both legs of your trip. A Friday arrival route may not have a Monday equivalent, and the ferry disappears entirely after November 15.
Reduce the logistics once you arrive
A central November home base
Ptown Perch is at 220 Commercial Street, directly across from The Canteen. Once you arrive, most central plans can start on foot. Grace Hall is about 0.1 mile away if you drive.
The apartment has a California king, queen sleeper sofa, full kitchen, heat, fast Wi-Fi, standing desk and in-unit laundry. It accommodates up to four registered guests.
The apartment is reached by an exterior staircase and is not step-free. Commercial Street can be lively, and some street activity may be audible indoors. We provide white-noise machines. See the apartment and location guide before deciding whether it fits your trip.
We keep availability on Airbnb. Use the listing for current dates, minimum stays, total price and cancellation terms.
