What Women’s Week is like
Comedy, music, books and community throughout Provincetown
Women’s Week celebrates LGBTQ+ women through entertainment, arts and time together. Provincetown Tourism describes a festival with more than 300 events. That describes the scale of the week, not a promise that every 2026 listing is already published.
Comedy, concerts and theater
The current program includes familiar Women’s Week names such as Judy Gold, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Poppy Champlin, Suede, BETTY, Lisa Koch, Vickie Shaw, Karen Williams and Zoë Lewis. Performers appear in different rooms and on different days, so search by name as well as date.
Books, authors and film
Literary events are a substantial part of the experience, with readings, author conversations and opportunities to browse and meet writers. Womencrafts celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026. Films and theater provide indoor options beyond the evening comedy circuit.
Social gatherings and dancing
Welcome events, tea dances and opportunities for singles and solo travelers offer ways to join the week without building every day around a seated performance. Check whether each gathering requires a ticket, an RSVP or simply a purchase from the menu.
Wellness and time outdoors
The program also includes workshops, yoga, sound baths, pickleball, whale watching and harbor sails. Pick an outdoor plan for a flexible part of your day, and leave an indoor alternative if wind or rain changes your plans.
Women’s Week marked its 40th anniversary in 2024. Its long history helps explain why returning visitors make room for annual traditions as well as new performers. A first visit does not need to cover everything to feel like a full week.

Friday–Sunday · October 9–11
Opening events and time to get oriented
The opening weekend offers performances, tea dances, Womencrafts programming and outings on the water. Headquarters appears in the schedule from Saturday. If this is your first visit, use part of the weekend to locate your venues and see how they fit around meals and check-in.
Do not assume an opening-weekend trip includes the Tuesday dinner or Friday and Saturday Town Hall headliners. Match your travel dates to the events you most want to attend.
Monday · October 12
Welcome gatherings and Zoë Lewis with Mouths of Babes
The opening day includes a Herring Cove sunset bonfire, a Pilgrim House welcome party and Zoë Lewis with Mouths of Babes at the UU Meeting House.
The beach and concert plans overlap. Choose one as your priority rather than treating them as an automatic sequence. Allow a separate travel block for Herring Cove, and bring a warm layer if you choose the beach.
Tuesday · October 13
Community Dinner and Performers Showcase
Town Hall’s Community Dinner and Performers Showcase is the evening’s main communal gathering. See the ticket table below for the listed time and price tiers.
If you book the dinner, build the rest of your evening around it. Avoid stacking another show immediately afterward unless you have checked the finish time, entry requirements and walk between venues. Review meal choices and contact the organizer directly about dietary requirements.
Wednesday · October 14
Town Hall bingo, Cris Williamson and Women’s Week Idol
Lesbo Bingo at Town Hall and Women’s Week Idol at Crown & Anchor are among the day’s listed events. Cris Williamson’s Town Hall concert is listed for 6–7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14. Bingo also appears elsewhere in the week, so confirm the date and venue on the ticket you select.
A late-morning event can leave room for lunch and an afternoon activity before your evening plans. Factor in the actual duration of a workshop, film or boat trip rather than judging the day only by its start times.
Thursday · October 15
The Book Fair and a literary day in town
The free Women’s Week Book Fair takes place at Town Hall, with additional author programming around town. Women’s Week Idol also appears in Thursday’s listings.
If books are a priority, leave browsing time around any readings you choose. A free daytime event can balance the cost of an evening show. Bring a tote and check the location of each author event, since the literary program is spread across multiple venues.
Friday · October 16
Womencrafts’ anniversary celebration and Kristin Key at Town Hall
Friday’s Town Hall program also includes Womencrafts’ 50th Anniversary Celebration from 1–2:30 p.m. Kristin Key’s evening show is listed for 7–8 p.m.; the ticket page gives a 6:30 p.m. door time. Her performance combines stand-up with original comedy songs. The later Crown & Anchor party has a separate cover.
Choose dinner timing around doors, not just the performance start. If your group wants to sit together, review the seating category before everyone buys separately.
Saturday · October 17
An evening with Kate Moennig
Kate Moennig is the Saturday Town Hall headliner, in conversation about her life, career and The L Word. Start-time listings differ between the organizer’s schedule and ticket listing, so confirm the current time and admission details with the seller. The later L Party at Crown & Anchor has a separate cover.
Leave room between a daytime excursion and evening entry. A long afternoon on the water can be a difficult pairing with an early dinner reservation and a must-see show.
Sunday · October 18
Closing-day plans and the trip home
The published closing-day program still includes entertainment and daytime activities. Choose what fits your departure rather than assuming Sunday is only a checkout day.
For a ferry trip, work backward from the sailing, boarding instructions, luggage collection and accommodation checkout. Staying Sunday night means planning a Monday return separately. See the transportation section before committing to your final night.

The program mixes free activities with individually ticketed events. Buy admission for the specific show, date and seating option you want. The figures below are the organizer’s published prices checked October 5, not a guarantee of remaining tickets or an all-in checkout total.

Compare what each price includes
A price range can represent different seating or admission packages. Read the actual category before paying. Do not assume a premium ticket includes a meet-and-greet, a meal, or admission to an afterparty unless that is stated by the seller.
Keep a separate food and transport budget
“Free entry” is different from free food or drinks. A breakfast meet-up may involve buying from the menu, and a beach gathering still requires getting there. Add meals, transport, parking and any checkout fees to the event budget.
Book the events that determine your trip
Start with the performance or community event you would be most disappointed to miss. Once the ticket and travel dates are settled, fill the spaces around them. Check the refund and exchange terms before adding several overlapping reservations.
Check the listing, not just the link label
Before completing a purchase, verify the event name, date, venue and ticket type on the seller’s page. Save the confirmation and any pickup instructions. If a link opens a different event, return to the organizer’s dated entry or ask headquarters for help.

Women’s Week Headquarters and ticket pickup
Headquarters: 256 Commercial Street
Start here for the printed program, official merchandise, raffle tickets and questions about the week. It is near Town Hall, but it is a separate address. Check daily opening hours before making a special trip.
The Town Hall box office moves
The published schedule places Town Hall ticket pickup at headquarters on Sunday and Monday, then inside Town Hall at 260 Commercial Street later in the week. Hours vary. Your ticket confirmation and that day’s listing should guide when and where you collect tickets.
Not every ticket is a Town Hall ticket
Other venues and producers may use their own sellers and entry arrangements. Keep confirmations organized by venue. For an event outside Town Hall, contact the named seller or venue instead of assuming headquarters handles its admission.
Keep the current program handy
A saved itinerary is useful, but check it against the live schedule before heading out. Note whether a time is for doors, the performance or a pickup window. Leave enough room for entry lines and the walk to your next venue.
Coming on your own
How to plan Women’s Week as a solo traveler
You can build a social trip without arriving with a group. The schedule includes gatherings explicitly intended for singles and solo travelers, alongside performances and activities you can enjoy independently.
Start with a recurring meet-up
The current Single Mingle Breakfast listing is at Bay Cafe, 177 Commercial Street, 9:30–11 a.m., October 10–17. Food and coffee are purchased separately. Starting with an event designed for introductions can be easier than relying on a crowded evening venue to meet people.
Choose friendship or dating intentionally
A singles breakfast, a group walk and a matchmaking event can have different purposes. Read the description and RSVP requirements so you choose the atmosphere you want. Being a solo traveler does not mean every social plan needs to be a date.
Give your day one shared activity
Try a reading, workshop or outing with a defined activity, then leave a gap afterward for coffee or a meal if a conversation develops. You do not need to reserve every hour in advance to have a satisfying itinerary.
Keep the evening comfortable
Choose a return route you are comfortable using after dark and keep your accommodation address saved. Check transport ahead for events beyond the center. A relaxed evening is easier when you have already solved how to get home.

Venue geography
Where are Women’s Week events held?
Many venues sit along Commercial Street, but a town-wide festival can still involve substantial walking. Group nearby activities together and treat beach, pier and out-of-town plans as separate travel decisions.
CENTER
Town Hall and the central venues
Town Hall is at 260 Commercial Street. Nearby are Red Room at 258, Crown & Anchor at 247, Waters Edge Cinema at 237 and the UU Meeting House at 236. These make a useful cluster when pairing an afternoon activity with an evening event.
COMMERCIAL
West and east along the street
Bay Cafe is at 177 Commercial and Boatslip at 161. Farther east are Post Office Cabaret at 303, Pilgrim House at 336 and Womencrafts at 376. Check your route before putting two close start times into the same itinerary.
BEYOND
The pier, beaches and Truro
Harbor sails and whale watches use MacMillan Pier. Herring Cove, Jerome Smith Courts and Truro Vineyards require a different travel plan from a short walk between central venues. Check the actual departure or meeting point, not only the venue’s name.
Walking distance is not an accessibility guarantee
If stairs, uneven surfaces, standing in line or seating arrangements affect your plans, ask each venue about its entrance, restrooms and accessible seating before buying. Build in the travel time that works for you rather than relying on a generic walking estimate.

Getting here in October
Boston ferries, bus travel and the Monday return
Bay State’s daily season ends October 18
Bay State lists daily Boston–Provincetown fast ferries through Sunday, October 18, 2026. Published departures are 8:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. from Boston; 10:30 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. from Provincetown.
A Monday, October 19 departure needs another plan. Bay State’s published timetable has no sailing that day; its late-fall weekend service starts October 23. Do not assume another operator fills the gap. Check your exact return before booking accommodation.

Bus arrival and departure
Peter Pan’s Provincetown stop is the Ryder Street Extension bus shelter near the entrance to the MacMillan Pier parking lot. Buy tickets before departure and check the full connection, including any transfer and the final leg home.

Flying and weather alternatives
For air travel, search Cape Air for your precise dates before building an itinerary around a flight. Check ground transport from the airport separately. Recheck operator alerts close to departure, especially when your trip depends on a same-day connection.
Driving and parking
Where to park during Women’s Week
Provincetown’s 2026 paid-parking season continues through November 2, including holidays. Do not assume October parking is free.
Grace Hall
$3 per hour, with a $30 maximum per 24 hours. Open 24 hours. Entrances are at Prince and Bradford streets and via Captain Birdie Way. Cash is not accepted.
MacMillan Pier
$4 per hour, with a $40 maximum per 24 hours. Open 24 hours and located near the waterfront in the center of town. Cash is not accepted.
Commercial Street
Parking between Pearl and Central streets is prohibited April 1–October 31. Use a legal space or lot and check posted restrictions before unloading or leaving your vehicle.

Once parked, think about which excursions actually need the car. For a day centered on Commercial Street, leaving it in one place may be simpler than driving between nearby events. Keep your parking ticket and note how to find the entrance on your return.

How many days should you spend at Women’s Week?
Opening weekend
Choose October 9–11 if those listings appeal to you. You can orient yourself and enjoy early programming, but this visit does not include the main week’s later Town Hall events. Confirm exactly what is scheduled before treating the opening weekend as a substitute for the official week.
Early and midweek
A visit including Monday through Thursday can work around the welcome gatherings, Community Dinner, bingo and Book Fair. Pick your must-do events first, then decide whether an extra night gives you useful time or simply adds expense.
The final weekend
A Friday-to-Sunday visit can include the two later Town Hall headliners. Decide whether you will leave Sunday or stay overnight before purchasing return travel. A Sunday show and a Sunday sailing may not fit together.
The full official week
A longer visit creates room for quieter mornings, repeat visits to favorite places and a less crowded schedule. Allow for laundry, meals and a break from performances. The number of nights you reserve should follow your chosen arrival and departure, not simply the festival’s name.
A useful order for planning
- Choose the events that determine your travel dates.
- Check return transportation, especially after October 18.
- Confirm accommodation and its cancellation terms.
- Buy priority tickets and save the confirmations.
- Add meals, social events and outdoor plans with realistic gaps between them.
Beyond the program
Leave room for Provincetown itself

Keep a weather alternative
PAAM, the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum, galleries and shops can give you a different pace from performances. Confirm current opening hours before setting out, and keep a flexible indoor option for a wet or windy afternoon.
OUTDOORS
Use a clear day well
Herring Cove, Race Point and the Province Lands offer another side of Provincetown. Check the route, daylight and transport before leaving the center. For longer excursions, avoid an itinerary that depends on getting back at the last possible minute.
What to pack for an October event week
Bring layers, a wind-resistant outer layer, comfortable walking shoes and rain protection. A small bag for tickets, a phone charger and any purchases is useful when moving between venues. Check the forecast close to departure and the venue’s guidance for anything you plan to carry inside.
Staying in central Provincetown
Choose accommodation around the week you want
A central address can make it easier to return between daytime and evening plans. Compare the actual map location, stairs, sleeping arrangements, parking and cancellation terms. A nearby venue does not tell you everything about how a property will work for your group.
Ptown Perch is unavailable for October 12–18, 2026. For a future visit, our one-bedroom apartment at 220 Commercial Street, across from The Canteen, offers a California king bed, queen sleeper sofa, full kitchen, in-unit laundry and a private garden for up to four registered guests. The apartment is reached by an exterior staircase and has no dedicated parking.
