Provincetown theme week guide
Mates Leather Weekend returns to Provincetown from Thursday, October 1 through Monday, October 5, 2026, bringing together people interested in leather, rubber and uniforms for social events, shopping, contests and nightlife.
The dates are confirmed and advance registration is open, but the detailed schedule is not final. The organizer says the current version is still based on 2025 while participating venues confirm their plans, so the times and locations below should be treated as planning information for now.

The quick answer
The official weekend begins Thursday and ends Monday. The organizer describes 2026 as the 29th Mates Leather Weekend.
The organizer is using a schedule based on 2025 while venues confirm their plans, which means the listed times and locations may change.
The price rises in September and again when the weekend begins. Several events can also be attended with a separate cover or no cover at all.
About the weekend
Mates Leather Weekend describes itself as a relaxed Provincetown gathering for people who want to meet friends, unwind or party with others interested in leather, rubber and uniforms. Longtime Provincetown resident and leatherman Rick Conley produces the weekend.
The published program ranges from waterfront cocktails, coffee and dessert to a leather market, cookout, contests, dances and late-night parties, so the weekend is not built entirely around clubs.
Events are listed at Bay Cafe, Aqua Bar, Full Kit Gear, Crown & Anchor, Boatslip Resort, Atlantic House and Gifford House instead of being held inside a single convention hotel.
A portion of pass proceeds benefits the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, and the tentative schedule includes free screening and testing at its Provincetown Drop-In Center throughout the weekend.
2026 planning preview
Events are currently listed from Thursday night through Monday brunch. Because the schedule is still tentative, use this overview for planning and confirm final times before your trip.
Prime the Pump is listed at Bay Cafe from 8–10 p.m., followed by Boot Camp at Atlantic House from 10 p.m.–1 a.m. The daytime schedule also includes gym access and free health screening.
The preview includes Waterfront Cocktails from 12:30–3 p.m., the Opening Reception and pass pickup from 5–8 p.m., Coffee & Dessert from 7–9 p.m., and Uniforms & Cigars from 9:30 p.m.–1 a.m.
The Leather Market & Raffle is listed at Boatslip from 11 a.m.–3 p.m., followed by Leather Tea Dance at Atlantic House from 6–9 p.m. The First Mate Contest & Jock Party is listed at Gifford House from 9 p.m.–1 a.m.
The Cookout & Tattoo Contest is listed from 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m., The Fetish Party from 4–8 p.m., and the Rubber Ball from 10 p.m.–1 a.m.
The current schedule ends with an Afterglow Closing Brunch at Bay Cafe from 9 a.m.–noon. Free gym access and health screening are also listed.
The organizer says the schedule remains based on 2025 and subject to venue confirmation. Confirm the details before buying individual event tickets or relying on a specific time. The printed schedule provided at registration is expected to contain the latest information.
Passes and individual covers
A pass is most useful if you plan to attend several events between Friday and Sunday. Not every activity requires one, and Thursday's events take place before pass entry begins.
The registration page lists $90 per person until September 1, when the price becomes $95. It rises to $100 on October 2, while year-round Provincetown residents can register for $80.
The pass includes entry to listed events beginning Friday, a 2026 event shirt, food at the Opening Reception and Sunday Cookout, participating restaurant discounts and free workouts at Provincetown Gym.
Some events have no cover, while others list individual charges from $5 to $20. If you expect to attend only one or two paid events, compare those costs with the pass before registering.
Advance registration is open, with online and in-person sales listed through noon on September 27. Beginning October 2, onsite sales at the Opening Reception and Leather Market are listed as cash-only.
Length of stay
Arriving Thursday and leaving Monday gives you the opening-night events, Friday registration, Saturday's full program, the Sunday-night parties and Monday's closing brunch.
You will miss Thursday night, but you can still attend the Opening Reception, Saturday's main events, the Sunday-night parties and Monday brunch.
A Friday arrival and Sunday departure covers the first two nights, but it leaves out the Cookout, Fetish Party, Rubber Ball and closing brunch. Sunday still has a substantial schedule.
If Mates is the main reason for your trip, arriving Thursday and leaving Monday matches the current schedule most closely.
Where to stay
Many of the weekend's main venues are along Commercial Street: Boatslip at 161, Bay Cafe at 177, Full Kit Gear at 192, Aqua Bar at 207 and Crown & Anchor at 247.
Ptown Perch is at 220 Commercial Street, near the middle of that stretch. Atlantic House and Gifford House are just off Commercial Street, so the weekend's core venues remain walkable from the center.
The apartment has a California king bedroom, queen sleeper sofa, full kitchen, in-unit laundry, central air conditioning, standing desk and private garden. It does not include dedicated parking, and guests reach it by a long exterior staircase.
Getting here
Bay State Cruise Company publishes three departures from Boston and three return trips each day through October 18, which covers the entire weekend. City Cruises also lists daily service during the Mates dates. Reserve ahead, and keep in mind that weather can disrupt ferry travel.
Cape Air publishes daily seasonal nonstop service between Boston Logan and Provincetown through November 2, 2026. Check the live schedule when booking, since weather can also affect flights.
Peter Pan serves Provincetown at the MacMillan Pier bus shelter, but schedules and connections vary. Search your exact travel dates rather than relying on a static timetable.
Both the ferry terminal and Peter Pan stop are at MacMillan Pier in the center of town. See our broader Provincetown guide for more local planning information.
Driving and parking
If you stay near the center, you can walk to the main published events. A car is more useful for visiting the National Seashore, beaches and other places beyond central Provincetown.
When possible, we recommend arriving earlier in the day, parking at the municipal Grace Hall lot and leaving the car there. Spaces are never guaranteed.
The Town lists 354 spaces, a 2026 rate of $3 per hour and a $30 maximum per 24 hours. The lot is at Prince and Bradford streets, with another entrance from Shank Painter Road.
Provincetown's 2026 paid-parking season begins May 1 and continues into early November, which means all five Mates dates fall within the paid season.
Review current rates and rules on the Town of Provincetown parking page.
What to wear and pack
The preview includes boots, uniforms, cigars, jock or underwear looks, fetish gear and rubber, so one outfit may not work for every event you want to attend.
Fall weather is friendlier to heavier gear, but harbor wind and evening temperatures can still change quickly. An outer layer that works with your look will make moving between venues more comfortable.
Central Provincetown is walkable, but the schedule moves among several venues. Make sure your boots or shoes can handle Commercial Street as well as the dance floor.
Bring the products and storage bags your materials require, along with a backup layer for rain. In-unit laundry can help with ordinary clothing, but leather, rubber and specialty gear need their own care.
